« Particules » project began when I started collecting bricks of different sizes, shapes, textures and colours, as well as stones and marble slabs of various locations in France and Begium.
I reclaimed these elements, resulting from deconstruction, construction site wastes or forgotten materials which were piled up in the backyards of houses or gardens.
Then I set up a reflection with my friend painter, Lise Roussel, to create sculptures inspired by architectural elements from different aeras and styles : columns, retaining walls, buttress etc. To create these series of sculptures, we mix archaic and high technologies techniques to generate our own construction modules.
But this artistic production itself generates wastes. So I wanted to highlight these wastes to develop a new project of furniture.
That’s why I had to find a special material to recreate a new one in a recycling and ethical process.
I chose to work with the local company EtNISI (Lille), and their material created from 75% of industrial waste : The Wasterial ©.
Now in my studio, I create specific moulds, metal frames to define the global shapes on my unique tables. I play with my own wastes (different shapes of brick, marble and porcelain stoneware).
This preparation allows me to control the color, the contrast and the final graphic composition.
These are high or low tables, monumental or more intimate, with solid beech wood legs turned by a local craftman.
It is also possible to imagine various objects such as mirrors, consoles, sideboards... It’s also possible to design custom-size to fit perfectly with a special architecture.
The archaeological character of « Particules » is the DNA of the project. Material seems to be used in a simple and raw way but everything is graphic and controlled.
Handmade recomposed stone, «Particules» evokes both the industrial past and a new sensitive craftmanship.
